After reviewing all of the expensive computers that are you there for you to buy from a company, I am now going to compare the prices of the same computers and same specifications to a computer that I am going to build using Newegg.com. The first computer I am going to compare is the Ibuypower computer, called the Gamer Mage. First off, the processor is the AMD II X4 840 3.2 Ghz Quad Core desktop costs about $105, the RAM is 4 GIGZ of DDR3 1330 and its cost is just under $40, the motherboard I chose was a BiostarAMD motherboard, which had a cost around $35, the video card, which was the 6770 HD, had a cost of $98, the harddrive about $65, the case and power supply were just under $150, the DVD burner was under $20, and Windows 7 64-bit operating system was $100. If you add all of this up, with tax and shipping, the total comes out to be $625.92. Now this price is actually pretty competitive, because the website, Ibuypower, is usually a pretty good site to buy a customized computer off of it. The company obviously still makes a profit off of this, because they get windows and probably all of the parts at a larger discount, but it still doesn’t match up to the fact that you could buy a customized computer and upgrade it however you please, over time. This was just a simple comparison of a built computer vs a buy computer. The Alienware comparison will be much more meaningful, and you’ll end up preferring to buy a customized one versus the Alienware.
