Compatibility with motherboards
I'm just going to explain how I figured out the compatibility with my motherboard and parts of my computer. First off, when you look at my first motherboard, by clicking here. You can see that it pulls up a page on Newegg (it's an online store that sells anything you want technology wise). When you pull up my motherboard, you can scroll down until you see Overview, Details, and Feedback. If you click on the Details tab, it will pull up a long list showing all the details of the motherboard. To figure out if your processor is compatible with you motherboard, you have to know what type of processor you have. If you click here, and go to the Details tab, you will see that the processor's CPU socket number is what you need to pay attention to. For example, mine is a Socket 939, which means that it will only fit into another 939 socket on the motherboard. If you look at the motherboard, you'll notice that they have the same sockets, so that means they are compatible, in that sense. On the motherboard Details tab, you will notice that it only supports different types processors, in this case it's the AMD Athlon 64. Now that we have the processor and motherboard's compatibility down, we can look into the RAM. If you click here, you can view the RAM that I used. On the motherboard Details tab, you can look at the Memory category, and note that the memory standard is a DDR 400 and it has 184 pins. Those are the two things that need to be compatible for motherboards and RAM to workout. If you view that RAM, you will note that it meets the motherboards requirements.
